The Global Scale of English (GSE) is a standardised scale which measures English language proficiency. Following the model of the CEFR, the GSE extends the framework to include learning objectives that specifically target learners aged 6–14. In this way, learners can chart their progress across ages and stages of development – from primary school to higher education and the workplace.
The GSE Learning Objectives provide a granular view of learning progress enabling teachers to establish clear learning goals for their students, parents to understand what their children are learning, and making learners aware of even small increases in their proficiency so they are motivated to continue learning.
